About Us

He’s Jay. She’s Kate. And together they are the Spydercricket Music Podcast.

Their goal is to introduce listeners to music they may not have had a chance to listen to on the main-stream Top 40 music stations. Some of the bands they have covered include MetricMumford and SonsFrightened Rabbit, and Yeasayer. In the past they’ve interviewed such acts such as  Eli Paperboy Reed, Jenny Owen Youngs, Backyard Tire Fire,  The Spring StandardsErin McKeownand Jukebox the Ghost.

They think you should listen. It’ll be awesome.

Jay’s Info:

Raised on the great plains of Virginia, his people were the non-nomadic kind, having settled in a modest suburban hut held together by nails, love, and the occasional wedgie given by older brothers. As a child he displayed zero musical talent. While Mozart created symphonies at an early age, Jay could barely clap along to the theme song to Romper Room. What he lacked in talent, he channeled towards appreciation. As he grew older, he became the guy that friends called and said, “What’s that song that goes da-da-da-dum-dum. Y’know…that one.” And yes, he does know.   His likes include meekrats, square pizza, and twitting as opposed to tweeting.

Kate’s Info:

Living by the motto, Jersey for life, Kate spent her young formative years teasing her hair and snapping gum. When not staring at the life sized poster of Paul Westerberg on her ceiling she dreamed of romance and adventure (in that order.)    After braving years in the wilds of the west coast, Katie returned east, met Jay, got married (not to Jay), got pregnant (again, not Jay), and started a podcast (yes, this one’s Jay). (Mostly in that order.) She is a powerhouse blog entry writer and goes by the name Lady-Link-o-Lot when she’s feeling saucy.  Her likes include mass transit, taunting Jay, and some baseball team from New York.
